Being an artist is more than having raw skill; anyone can be an artist if they have the will to do so. If you have ever wanted to be an artist but you’ve always been afraid that you aren’t good enough, that you don’t have what it takes, that you can’t do what the professionals can, you have come to the right place.
This website will help you not only develop the technical skills and business knowledge to becoming a professional BUT it will also help you develop the mental skills. These are just as, if not more, important to being a true artist than skill with a pencil or a brush.
So, who are artists really?
We define an artist as one who practices an art: one who imagines new things, creates a plan to put those things into action and executes those plans by doing.
Artists can be illustrators, painters, photographers, writers, poets, singers, actors, designers, inventors, entrepreneurs, traders, investors, lifters, runners… OR none of these can be artists. It is not what you do but how you do it. Just because you used a paint brush to smear some paint over a canvas does not mean you are an artist.
It is how you paint, what you are thinking of, how you infuse your feeling into the piece, whether you drew inspiration from the soul. BUT don’t mistake this to mean that only certain people can be artists. NO! Everyone can be an artist – it’s all a matter of choice. Once you start thinking like a true artist, everything changes and nothing can stop you from creating.
So basically, an artist is anyone who consciously imagines, creates and does. Of course painters do this all the time. They imagine their piece, they create it by doing all the tasks requires such as blending colours, creating an outline, adding texture, adding highlights, lowlights, etc. But graphic designers, coders, even self-made athletes do the same thing.
This website is geared towards offering physical skills of fine artists; however, we do offer several wonderful resources here to our other artists. Check out our top rated art courses and our essential art supplies!
Don’t limit yourself to good – you can be great
Creating great art is therefore not an easy task but an attainable one – it requires discipline, persistence, and a connection with yourself. Developing these skills is just as crucial as learning how to sketch and is probably much more difficult.
Virtually all people have the ability to learn how to sketch well if they fully apply themselves; however, few go the extra mile and become truly great by honing their emotional and mental skills in parallel.
Anyone can be an artist
SO, as long as you persevere, don’t quit and master these things then you can be an artist. Not only an artist but a great artist. This is something they don’t teach in school.
People often say that artistic talent is something that either comes naturally or doesn’t come at all. This could not be further from the truth. Even the naturals “search for inspiration” which is basically another way of saying they are disconnected from their souls and they are not living a life of imagination.
You CAN learn these skills and so anyone can be an artist, you just need to have the WILL to get there. Please feel free to contact us if you feel like you need support or like you’ve hit a roadblock – we’re here to help 🙂
